One Week and Counting
by Josh on Jun.22, 2007, under Past Youth Camps
It’s officially one more week till Youth Camp! We’re really excited! The counselors are getting prepared. The handbooks are being sent to the presses. The staff are adding the final touches to the schedule. Workshops are being arranged. Things are all coming together as we’re getting ready for Youth Camp.
We’ve hit several great milestones this year. The first one being we have 20 counselors this year!! Whoa! This is the first time that we’ve had to too many counselors. Thank you everyone who volunteered to be a counselor. You’re support is most appreciated.
We’re also really excited at our giveaway for an iPod Nano. The current record stands at two guests, but we hope that campers would continue to invite your friends. We have very few slots left, so please let Pastor Rich (PastorRich@gmail.com) know that you WILL be going to Youth Camp.
I’ve had the opportunity to talk to several people tonight, with various obstacles in going to Youth Camp. It’s a great experience, and I encourage everyone to go! Whatever concern, problem, or obstacle you may face, let’s face them together and try to work out a great solution. Got Summer School on Monday? Not a problem. Let’s find a solution to each problem so you can come. We want you to come and no matter what’s the obstacle, we can overcome them.
Finally a few minor details about departure for on the Friday, the 29th of June. Please be at church at 5PM (1700hrs), having eaten dinner. Alternatively, you can bring dinner and eat it at church a bit later.
Please also note there are luggage policies this year:
All campers will be permitted to have 1 Carry On, 1 Luggage, and 1 Sleeping Bag (Pillow excluded). Each item should be able to fit with ease in an overhead bin of an aircraft. The maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) and no more than 50 pounds.
Keep an eye on this site over the week. Any important details and news will be posted as soon as it is available.
One More Thing….
by Josh on Jun.10, 2007, under Past Youth Camps
Okay, I sound like Uncle from Jackie Chan Adventures….well, sorta…. But i do have more things to say.
As I said yesterday, today is the last day for Early Bird Registration! So if you didn’t remember to sign up for Youth Camp, you still have ONE LAST CHANCE to take advantage of the low low rate available for early birds.
Contact Pastor Rich and let him know TODAY (Sunday, June 10th, 2007) and tell him you are going!
One more thing…the camper who brings the most friends, who have not attended Youth Camp previously, to Youth Camp 2007 wins an iPod Nano! To qualify, your friends must write your name where on the Youth Camp registration form under “Invited By”.
O yea, if you need a registration form, click here. Adobe PDF Required.
Early? or Late?
by Josh on Jun.09, 2007, under Past Youth Camps
It’s no secret that Asians, we love being late. If you say an Asian 10:00, it means meet at 10:45. Why we do that? I have no idea. But we’re always fashionably late as some would like to put it.
But another thing about being late when it comes to Youth Camp is that you have to PAY MORE. Erm….lemme say that again…
PAY MORE!
We’re all Asian, and we all love a good bargain. So when we can save a few dollars, we ending up try to save it. Heck, we probably squeeze good ol’ George Washington so hard, we make Martha jealous. Tomorrow is the deadline for Early Bird Registration for Youth Camp 2007 at the heavily discounted, and subsidized rate of $165.00! After tomorrow, the price increases to $185.00!
That’s a $20.00 increase! Think about all the things you can do with that extra $20.00! Movies, clothing, a sushi dinner, shoes, a new Bible, offering money, a partial tank of gas, a good book, a USB Flash Drive…….
Okay, so I’m rambling. But the conclusion is: TOMORROW ENDS EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION! SIGN UP TOMORROW!!!
Cookies! Gimme the Cookies!
by Josh on May.23, 2007, under Past Youth Camps
There’s one thing that can always gets my heart pumping. It’s not chocolate, but rather the fresh smell of baked goods waffling out the window and letting the aroma flow to your senses. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I have to admit there’s nothing more delicious than fresh cookies (or brownies with honey roasted nuts) that could wake me up at all hours of the night.
The reality is the ovens are cooking, andcommittee members are indeed slaving away in the kitchens this very moment preparing tender morsels to be consumed in our annual Youth Camp Bake Sale this upcoming Sunday, May 27th.
The revenue earned in the bake sale helps to cover some of the costs of Youth Camp each year, however more importantly, fund raising allows us to pay for those who’d like to go to Youth Camp but can’t afford it. Most importantly of all, it goes to paving the way for non-Christians to come to Youth Camp and experiencing God.
So break open those piggy banks and let’s serve God here. God can use those generous hearts. We may give a little but he can do so much. The cost of supporting Youth Camp and sharing what we know, God’s infinite love for us, is far more important than a few dollars. We can easily re-earn a few dollars through chores, and work, but to save someone who we really love and care about…it’s priceless.
Bon appetite and see you Sunday!
